SUPPLYING VOLUNTEERS
Every team must supply at least one appraiser for the tournament. This person cannot be the team manager and will not be guaranteed to watch a child's performance.
Every team must supply one two-hour volunteer for the tournament. This person will be guaranteed to watch their child's performance. This volunteer may be asked to work at the registration table, sales table, parking lot attendant or other duty needed to support the tournament.
PROP STORAGE & HANDLING
Props can be unloaded no more than two hours before a performance and must remain in your prop storage room (not in the halls or cafeteria). Props must not be placed back into storage after a performance. There are dumpsters outside for trash and recycles or place items back in your car(s). Parents can assist with moving challenge items from the car into the building, but not into prop storage. Parents cannot fix anything that breaks, as that is considered interference. Only team members can fix or prepare challenge items for the performance.
PIN TRADING
Pin trading is popular with Destination Imagination teams. Bring your pin towels to trade pins throughout the day!
SCAVENGER HUNT & PASSPORT CHALLENGE
In the team's registration packet is a Scavenger Hunt for our team to complete. This is a great way to foster teamwork and collaboration as our team works together to check off every item on the list. They may even have to invite members of other teams to help them complete some of the tasks!
The team's registration packet will also have a passport (business card) for each team member. The goal is to watch as many different Team Challenges as possible. The cards will be punched at the end of the performance upon exiting the challenge site.
Teams will return the completed Scavenger Hunt and Passport Challenge cards to the Registration Table between 3:00pm and 4:00pm for their prizes.
There will be a food truck (Arroz RVA) serving lunch to all tournament participants from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Food items include organic chicken or steak bowls, organic chicken or steak salads, and organic chicken, steak, or guacamole burritos. Kona Ice is returning to serve fruity flavored shaved ice, Dippin' Dots, popcorn, and cotton candy. The sales table will also have snacks and drinks for sale.
Every affiliate creates a new set of pins to sell and trade during the tournament season. We are selling this three-pin fractal set for $12. There is a very limited supply of last year's DIVA Guitar Pin Set that you will find at the Sales Table. T-shirts and sweatshirts will also be for sale. A silent auction table will have a vast inventory of pins and shirts for you to peruse. You can purchase vintage pins and pin sets, trade pins, and bid on exclusive pin/t-shirt sets from across the globe.
