Meet Justin, Harrison, Andrew, Caleb and Michael from HEARTH Homeschool. Our team consists of 5 high school guys who have been together for two years as a team. All of the members are homeschoolers who are involved in many different activities over the years.

The HEARTH DIzzy Derby team consists of five land-locked surfers from Ohio who seek adventure and surfing on the West Coast. Along the way, they run into several “detours” but quickly overcome them in typical DI style. With a disco ball, LED enhanced license plate, and Jimmy Hendrix lookalike, this road trip is one that won’t be forgotten any time soon.

TM Michelle Shumate has enjoyed working with and getting to know these boys over the last couple of years. "I have as much fun watching them arrive at a solution, as they do working on that same solution. I consider myself blessed to call myself their Team Manager.”

Andrew will never forget the time at State Competition when everything seemed to go wrong. "What struck me was the fact that the team was able to pull together in spite of our difficulties, do well on our instant challenge, and still make it to Globals.”

We have really enjoyed building, designing, and driving our vehicle during this year’s series of tournaments. This will be our second year at Globals and we are READY to go!!
